Demographic developments, trends and cycles
11. With low fertility rates, populations of the developed economies will continue to grow older. With high fertility rates, populations of developing economies will continue to grow younger. Countries with aging populations will see increasingly severe fiscal deficits while younger populations generate surpluses.

12.

For lesser-skilled workers, wage differentials among countries will decrease. World-wide wage gaps between higher-skilled and lesser-skilled workers will grow. Except in countries that have steeply progressive tax structures, return on invested capital will expand the economic divide between those who have more and those who have less.

13. Rigid Islamic fundamentalism will continue to be a powerful force in international politics and in the internal politics of many nations.

14.

Peoples of different cultures, backgrounds and religions will find themselves having to deal more and more with each other, usually in some degree of conflict. The dream of melding peoples and cultures likely will see little success.
